Amazon.com Inc. Pricing Gets Chopped Down by Overstock.com

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

Guess what arrived today in the male mail? Not a female. My Arrested Development Season Three! On DVD. Not VHS.

I purchased the box set at Amazon.com Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:AMZN). Don’t make the same mistake I did. My advice, buy it at Overstock.com Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:OSTK) You’ll save a few bucks. Amazon sells it for $19.99 + shipping. (Unless you spend over $25.) Overstock.com is selling it for $16.91 + $1.40 for shipping.
Perhaps this will explain why the DVD is currently the #2 best selling DVD on AMZN. But #1 on OSTK. Economics 101!

In case you need convincing to watch Arrested Development on DVD, here’s a clip.

Amazon Grocery Exits Beta

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Amazon.com, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:AMZN)¬†sent me an email today. Yesterday they sent me one too, informing me that my order has shipped! Today’s email was to make me aware that Amazon Grocery has officially launched. This reminds me…that it’s 3PM and I still have not eaten lunch!

Anyways, if you go to the actual Amazon Grocery site, it still states that it is in Beta.

It looks like someone did not get the memo! BTW, click here to watch Tara Reid Get Denied!

Amazon Inc. & Tropical Storm Ernesto

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Amazon.com announced today that the company has authorized a $500 million stock repurchase program. And I quote: The Company may do so if it believes its shares are undervalued.

All I can say is that Amazon.com, Inc., (Nasdaq:AMZN) has perfect timing. Here’s why: in the beginning of June, Amazon launched a Hurricane section on their site. Here is the press release. After last summer’s Hurricane season, Amazon had good business intentions…

This year however has been quiet on the Hurricane front. That is up until this weekend, when Ernesto began to make waves, literally! So, if this is the first of many storms, this could be a future boost in Amazon’s business. In this light, one can understand why Amazon feels its current shares are undervalued…

Amazon.com Inc. Charging $25 for Free Google Content

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

Amazon and Charlie Rose have joined forces to bring you old footage. Press release. For a heft fee at $24.95 per episode. Most folks I know would only shell out this type of cash to AVOID watching Charlie Rose. Personally, I dig him. It’s just that the crowd I hang with is not all that bright…

So here’s what I don’t get (besides for this entire initiative): this latest Amazon offering is being orchestrated by CustomFlix Labs, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Amazon.com, Inc. (Nasdaq:AMZN). FYI, if anyone at CustomeFlix ever achieves sainthood, the company will then become a wholly & holy subsidiary of Amazon.com.

Anyways, for $24.95, you can purchase a Charlie Rose DVD. The episodes can be purchased at www.amazon.com/charlierose. All good, right?

Wrong!

The problem is that Google Video has been offering “The Charlie Rose Show” for FREE, for quite some time.

Let’s do some comparison shopping:

1)On Amazon.com, you can purchase the Charlie Rose interview here with Anthony Hopkins (01/24/06) for $24.95.
Or you can get it from Google Video for FREE here! With awesome quality. Right away. Without waiting for Amazon.com to ship.

2) On Amazon.com, you can purchase the Charlie Rose interview here with Kiefer Sutherland ; Peter Bergen (01/13/06) for $24.95
Or you can get it from Google Video for FREE here! With awesome quality. Without waiting for Amazon.com to ship.

3) (top seller) On Amazon.com you can purchase the Charlie Rose interview here with the Dalai Lama (11/16/05) for $24.95
Or you can get it for from Google Video for FREE here! With awesome quality. Without waiting for Amazon.com to ship.

Has Amazon ever heard of Google Video? Will Amazon.com take this stupidity a step further by charging for A9 search queries? Can someone clue me in?

Amazon.com Reviews for the Paris CD

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

To be fair, the reviews are a mix between Paris sychophants & Hilton Haters.

The average customer review on Amazon.com is three stars out of five. Are these three stars ALSO blind?

Currently, Paris is #56 on the Amazon music lust list.

Here are some funny reviews for Paris Hilton’s new CD called…Paris!

Paris Hilton’s voice is well hid behind layers of filters and sound effects. We never really get to hear her actual singing voice. The most likely reason for this is that her singing voice wasn’t good enough on its own without all that help. The result is that most of the songs are very overproduced, some to the point of making them unlistenable.

If you love her, you’ll snap up the CD. Me, I find her trashy, vapid, decadent and grossly repugnant.

All in all, Paris Hilton not only does not sing at all, she doesn’t shine at all. Her record is one of the worst records I’ve ever heard this past year. It sounds more like it is a piece of junk rather than a real soulful definitive album. This album is not even worth purchasing, and Paris Hilton is definitely blind if she wants to keep doing this for a long term career.

Ok this album sux. This is the epitome of wasted beats and a total waste of time for whatever producer decided to work on this album. Paris hilton doesn’t have any talent in her body whatsoever. I would say that she would be a good porn star but I saw her video that got released and she has no talent in that area either. Even though she has an abundant amount of money, I still recommend the nearest Target register as her career of choice. Fat Joe and Jadakiss should play russian roulette with each other for being on this album. Avoid this album like the bubonic plague!!!!!!

Anyone who buys this CD is a sucker. I wouldn’t even waste my time buying it at a used CD store for .99 cents. The good thing I’ll say is that Paris looks beautiful on the cover, and that’s pretty much it. The music is shallow and her voice is like diet Jell-o. Anyone who reviews this CD and types more than one paragraph is a total lame. Believe me, it’s not necessary.

The fact that people will buy this shows the absolute joke the music “industry” has become. Look for someone to market first, talent and minimal singing skills are secondary. Stop the madness and do not buy this cd!¬†
