Better than Oprah AND Rachel Ray

Tuesday, November 14th, 2006

First and foremost, I am sorry. My bad. I have not blogged in over a week. It’s been a dry spell. Well, I have a valid excuse. A dog ate my laptop. Unfortunately, my laptop was a Dell and the battery exploded after the mutt swallowed it. The dog’s family is now suing Dell.

Such much has occurred since we last communicated. I was in LA; went to a Dolphin’s game and watched Borat. This and more happenings are most certainly worthy of their own posting.

To business. Not real business. Just blog business. My cousin and her neighbor were inspired by my YouTube channel. This was their reasoning “if a dimwit like him can make video clips, we, the carpool moms can surely do our own thing“.

To keep the long tail on a rather short leash, their idea was to create a Jewish style talk-show; discussing Jewish topics and cooking Kosher style foods. They made a demo reel, which I filmed. As part of the guest segment, I was asked to play the part of Rabbi Shmuley Boteach, author of Kosher Sex and another 50 or so books (all good books too!), who not only has a TV show, but even has his own freaking wiki entry!

1) The following is only part #1. If you behave, perhaps there will be a second helping.
2) These talented women pitched the show to a producer and…they got it! And fear not, it’s just them. Not me!

Iris Bahr Goes to Shul

Sunday, October 29th, 2006

Iris Bahr is an actress. Jewish too. You may recognize her from somewhere. More on that later. There was a piece about her in yesterday’s Page Six. Link.

Ms. Bahr is also coming out with a fascinating book.

Now, where do you know her from? Well, she is the Orthodox woman from Curb Your Enthusiasm. The episode with sundown on the ski lift.

iristextless1.jpg

As an Orthodox Jew who watches TV religiously, I can confirm that the sundown law is baseless. It simply does not exist in Jewish law. Nonetheless, the episode was still very funny.

Part #1. Part #2. Part #3. And Part #4.

Maria Sansone Wishes Drudge a Happy Bday

Friday, October 27th, 2006

Who is Maria Sansone? Well she is the host of The 9.

And what is The 9? Nope. It’s not a new drama on FOX. Close though.

It’s a new initiative from Pepsi and Yahoo. The 9 promises to deliver the strangest, coolest and wackiest stuff on the web. Every weekday morning. Yahooooooooooooooo!

And the host of the show is Maria Sansone. This is her homepage. Her wiki entry. Her Flickr page. And of course, the IMDB bio. (Me? I just have a crumby blog….)

Today, she wished a happy birthday to Matt Drudge who turns 24 on Sunday…

i have been linkdumped

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

At the end of yesterday, 60 people from Gap Inc visited my site. I know this thanks to Google Analytics, which FYI, has just launched a special feature just for Geckout! That’s a huge chunk of my traffic. Dang. I really hope they stay in business!

My call for human writes has been heard in the Netherlands. In the linkdump. I think this is a good thing. Maybe not.

And Page Six of the NY Post continues to torment Keith Olbermann. In case you lost count, this is the 4th time in the span of (less than) a month.

Piperlime, Rachel Zoe, Go Live

Monday, October 16th, 2006

This evening I am rife with mixed emotions. One half of me wants to eat meat for dinner. The other half of me wishes to eat milk. And the third half isn’t even hungry.

For months, I have blogged about the new Gap shoe site called piperlime. I breathlessly reported all the latest stuffs. But all good things come to an end. Except for Rocky sequels.

This afternoon, piperlime has gone live. Over the weekend, I decided to end my prolific Gap bloggings. It was a great ride. However, I need to focus on internet video.

piperlime (2)2.jpg

Many of you at Gap have become regular visitors to my blog. Already today, 26 of you have stopped by to say hello. Thanks for taking the time!

ga (2)1.JPG

Will I ever again blog about Gap? Probably. But not nearly as often. Perhaps a video clip from time to time.

A tear rolls town my cheek. Metaphorically.

I will not critique the site, though there is much that can be said! OK. For old times sake, I will point out one Gap-mishap on the new site :-)

In the Rachel Zoe corner, the box is titled “Our Latest Expert”. Yet right beneath that you state “Say Hello to Rachel Zoe our very first editor”. So I ask: how is it possible to be both the First & Latest at the very same time?”.

Gap, I love you. Even your silly marketing efforts! Please keep in touch!
xoxo,
Shmuly

Corynne Steindler Reports to Page Six

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

Tomorrow, 10/6/06, Corynne Steindler reports to the offices of Page Six. There she will be given a list of ground rules:

1) Do not offer protection to Ron Burkle

2) Develop an affection for Kathy Griffin

3) Beware of strangers offering candy or other treats

4) Begin harboring animosity towards Keith Olbermann

Because Corynne Steindler will be working out of a real office, here is a clip from the opening scene of Office Space.

How Old is Rachel Zoe?

Sunday, October 15th, 2006

As of late, or “lately” if you prefer skimping on words, the name Rachel Zoe has been showing up all over the place. In fact, this morning I opened up the mail box and a Rachel Zoe name tag popped right out. Uncanny.

Just so you know, Rachel Zoe was not always Rachel Zoe. Her real name is Rachel Zoe Rosenzweig. Awesome! Who knows? She may even be my third-cousin or something.

Not kidding about her original name. You can read about it in the Rachel Zoe wiki entry. But here’s the cool part; according to this article, Rachel Zoe is either 34 or 35. However, her wiki entry says she was born in 1962 which means…do the math…that Ms. Zoe is in fact 44 or 45.

Do you reckon her agent, who had her drop “Rosenzweig”, also sliced ten years off her age?

Page Six Continues to Smear Keith Olbermann

Wednesday, October 11th, 2006

Earlier this week, I blog about Page Six “picking on” poor Keith Olbermann. I had a theory about all of this as well.

Anyways, today, Page Six of the NY Post has another Keither Olbermann piece; this one elaborating on the plight of his unsatisfied romping partner.
Call me crazy, but this is starting to get suspicious. This is the third time in less than three-weeks that Page Six of the NY Post has written shameful stuffs about Keith. The first time was about Keith overreacting to the anthrax hoax. The second and third times were about Olbermann’s lackluster libido. Notice the pattern; all three raise serious questions about Mr. Olbermann’s manhood.
I can’t say for sure, but this is beginning to look like an orchestrated smear campaign to bring down Keith Olbermann. Just so you know, Page Six staffers CAN be bought-off/influenced to write or not write about specific people. Richard Johnson did this, in opposite mode, for Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis

NY Post “Page Six” At War with Keith Olbermann

Monday, October 9th, 2006

As of late, it appears that Page Six has an axe to grind with MSNBC anc-whore Keith Olbermann. First, I will present the facts. Thereafter I will present my theory.

In today’s Page Six (10/09/06), there is a story about a woman who was disappointed with Olbermann’s bed-prompter skills. She even created a blog about her hardships. (His hardship was lacking.)

A few weeks ago (09/27/06) Page Six ran another story teasing Olbermann about being afraid of the white powder envelope hoax. Here’s a quote: He asked to be taken to St. Luke’s Hospital, where doctors looked him over and sent him home. Whether they gave him a lollipop on the way out isn’t known.

Does Page Six take anthrax seriously? They most certainly do. The following day (09/28/06) they did a piece on Katie Couric omitting AMI from the anthrax onsalught of 2001. (Yes; it was annual anthrax week at Page Six…hence the multiple anthrax articles.)

So Page Six is making life a living hell for Keith Olbermann. As a gossip column, it is their duty. But why is Keith Olbermann a target? And why all of a sudden NOW has Olbermann become the personal punching bag for Paula, Bill & Richard?

Here’s my theory: Keith Olbermann has recently emerged as a hero for the Bush-hating left. Many of his anti-administration monologues have been highly viewed on YouTube. (Olbermann to Bush.)

Is it possible that Page Six, through powers that be, is sending Keith Olbermann a non-too subtle message?
