Home Depot Starts Selling Electronics
The Home Depot, Inc. (Public, NYSE:HD) has started selling Electronics. This is being promoted via email and a tab on the homedepot.com homepage.
The product categories are televisions, GPS Systems, CD players/recorders & DVD players/recorders.
Brilliant move in my opinion. If Walmart can sell clothing and groceries & Amazon can sell Hurricane supplies, then Home Depot ought to be capitalizing on traffic by selling electronics. In fact, it makes perfect sense for Home Depot to be selling HOME electronics.
Under some of the electronic products, the site says “internet/catalog only”. Also a good move. It’s much easier and cost effective to roll something out online, test the waters and the decide how to proceed.
I am sure that Circuit City and Best Buy will be closely monitoring this development.
