Overstock.com Speaks Alien, Hypocritical on Keyword Bidding Policy

Overstock.com, Inc. (Public, NASDAQ:OSTK) is an online retailer based in the sacred community of Salt Lake City, Utah.
If I were CEO, the company slogan would be “Overstock.com, where bargains run amok & polygamy is rampant“. But I digress.

(I have always yearned to use the word “digress” in a blog post!)

Anyways, OSTK has a solid affiliate program. As opposed to a liquid affiliate program. Their Affiliate Terms & Conditions has a clear ban for bidding on the overstock.com trademarks: “2.6 Partner agrees not to bid on any keyword in Pay per Click Search Engines (PPCSEs) that is a Merchant divademark(?)….Some examples of these keywords include, but are not limited to: “Overstock.com”….
For your own sake, you will a need Webster’s Dictionary: Alien Edition to  translate some of the made-up words in the Overstock.com affiliate terms & conditions. For example these word “divademark” & “sdivings”. I am not making this up. Check for yourself. In fact, if you google these fake words, the overstock.com affiliate conditions is the only search result for both! (Click here & here.)

So, besides for creating a new language, Overstock.com is of the belief that keyword bidding on a trademark is not a good business practice. I was therefore shocked to see that overstock.com is bidding on the keyword “amazon.com“!
